| The idea of setting up a
centre for conflict resolution in our community took root
in 1996 when Mrs. Else Hammerich, the founder of the Danish
centre for Conflict Resolution (DCCR) met His Holiness the
Dalai Lama at Copenhagen in Denmark.
She was inspired to introduce the concept of conflict reslution
to the exiled Tibetan community. Thus this project was initiated
by DCCR in partnership with the Home Department of the Central
Tibetan Administration (CTA), with financial aid from the
Danish foreign ministry though DANIDA. Mrs Hammerich and Mr
Bjarne Vestergaard from the DCCR, came to Dharamsala to work
on this project. they trained sixteen young trainees in conflict
resolution and democratic processes.
This intensive training spanning over a period of six months
reached completion seccessfully in April 2001.
The TCCR office started functioning w.e.f 1st May 2001. Thereafter
there were two follow up training with the Danish Trainers
visiting the TCCR team for further training and finally for
examination and certification of the new Tibetan Trainers. |
